Finding the Right Treatment for You

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Our Consultant surgeons will discuss your vein problems with you and perform a detailed ultrasound examination of your legs. Your past medical history is important, especially if you have had vein treatment before.  We also need to consider your family history to assess the risks and benefits of treatment.

The doctors can then outline the treatment options available to you. Varicose vein treatments have evolved over the last 20 years. Most varicose vein treatment providers now use a heated probe (radiofrequency ablation or laser) to close the varicose veins. At The British Vein Institute we do not. We specialise in using foam sclerotherapy

"In our hands, foam sclerotherapy gives the same closure rates while using a much less invasive procedure."

In addition, heated probes are not used to treat very superficial veins or veins of the calf due to the risk of skin injury and nerve damage. We specialise in using foam sclerotherapy for all the veins in the legs so that we can achieve the best cosmetic outcome for you.
