IS FOAM SCLEROTHERAPY RIGHT FOR ME

Foam sclerotherapy can be used for all people and all sizes of veins but success depends on the skill of the practitioner delivering the treatment. Closure rates of 80-90% are expected (ref). This is the same as the heated probe treatments.

Very large veins may need more than one treatment.

Obesity can limit the placement of our cannulas and make treatment less effective but this can be discussed with the Consultant and will be the case for all varicose vein treatments.

Recurrent varicose veins are better treated with foam sclerotherapy than surgery, particularly phlebectomy, where the veins are surgically pulled out.
